Navy Printing: Information on Sales and Purchases

Abstract

As agreed with your office, we developed information on (1) NPPS sales to non-DOD federal government and nonappropriated fund customers for NPPS plants in the continental United States and (2) the amount of printing NPPS procured commercially. We also obtained the names of the vendors that NPPS uses when purchasing printing through BPAs and information on the length of time needed to complete these transactions. We developed information on NPPS sales by sending a questionnaire to the four NPPS divisions, and on commercial purchases by sending another questionnaire to NPPS plants in the continental United States. As agreed with your office, we obtained information for fiscal years 1984 and 1985 and the 3-month period ending December 31, 1985. We tested data for the 3-month period by visiting five NPPS plants.
