Joint STARS Production Decision

Abstract

As a part of our review of the Department of Defenses (DOD) fiscal year 1997budget request, we examined the military services Joint STARS efforts. We understand that DOD has recently reached a decision to commit to the full-rateproduction of Joint STARS. We have serious questions whether the performance of the system to date warrants this commitment. We are concerned that this systemhas not demonstrated a maturity justifying a full-rate production decision.
