High Reynolds Number Stratified Wake Studies

Abstract

This effort was built upon prior grants, where properties of the early-time, high Reynolds number (Re) stratified wakes were measured in order to: (1) investigate the properties of the high-Re stratified turbulent wake of a towed sphere as a function of distance downstream, and (2) characterize the internal wavefield (IW) generated by the turbulent wake of a towed sphere under steady and non-steady (turning/accelerating) conditions.
