World famous rocketeers : the 336th fighter squadron's role in achieving national objectives

Abstract

This thesis illuminates the history of the 336th Fighter Squadron within the political context of national aims in war. It focuses on the squadrons origin and accomplishments during the Second World War and the 1991 Gulf War as formative periods that represent distinct interactions between political objects and military actions. The squadron-focused narrative highlights individual accomplishments and challenges aswell as the units development of team morale and camaraderie. The thesis concludes by offering a perspective on the employment of airpower as a political instrument and the significance of the units contributions toward national objectives.
