System-of-Systems Threat Model

Abstract

The Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute (HSSEDI) assists the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S and T) in the execution of the Next Generation Cyber Infrastructure (NGCI) Apex program. HSSEDI explored the use of the general threat modeling framework developed under the NGCI Apex program for the Financial Services Sector (FSS) from a sector-level view or an institution-centric view, taking into consideration institutional links to partners, suppliers, and customers. This technical report describes system-of-systems views, identifies ways in which a system-of-systems threat scenario could be used, and demonstrates the potential utility of the general threat modeling framework by providing an initial system-of-systems scenario.
