A Management Guide to Software Maintenance in COTS-Based Systems

Abstract

The objective of this guidebook is to provide planning information that results in cost effective strategies for maintaining Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) software products in COTS-based systems. It considers the issues and risks in using COTS software over the lifecycle and how to control them. It describes changes in the software maintenance process that are needed to manage a COTS-based system. It provides guidance in developing a COTS Software Life-Cycle Management Plan.
