Future Battlefield Trends in the Realm of Information Operations and Institutionalizing Information Operations Architecture for the Bangladesh Army and Way Forward
Abstract
With rapidly proliferating technology, the Bangladesh (BD) Army is increasingly becoming vulnerable in the information environment. Recognizing the urgency, the army has already established a few structures for dealing with Information domain. This research considers that the existing infrastructure is not sufficient for providing adequate protection to its information environment. At this milieu, the researcher carried out this research through a quantitative analysis involving document study, content analysis, and researcher's first-hand experience about the subject matter. The research reflected an accurate picture of the existing structure of the BD Army and drew the necessity of devising an architecture for Information Operations (IO). In the beginning, the researcher studied the evolution of IO doctrines keeping the requirement of future warfare in the realm of IO. Then, the researcher identified the vulnerabilities of the present system. Through an analysis of different army doctrine, the researcher painted a comprehensive view of the latest trends of IO. Finally, in search of a pragmatic solution, this research suggests measures to overcome the limitation and develop an IO architecture. In the end, some recommendations were proposed. It is expected that this suggested IO architecture will help the BD Army to operate well in the information domain.
