A Comparison of the Mechanical Shock Mitigation Performance of a Shock Isolation Seat Subjected to Laboratory Drop Tests and at-Sea Seakeeping Trials

Abstract

This report compares shock isolation seat data recorded during laboratory drop testing with data recorded on a similar seat during craft seakeeping trials. The laboratory test data demonstrated the seats mitigation performance prior to installation in the craft. The seakeeping trial data shows similar wave impact shock mitigation performance. These results provide an interim, partial validation of the laboratory test requirements.
