Comparison of Iraq and Vietnam Conflict

Abstract

The United States Army dealt with counterinsurgency operations during the Vietnam War and is currently dealing with counterinsurgency during the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT). Throughout history, the Army continues to improve and increase its chances on todays battlefield by applying critical information gained from lessons learned to make future operations successful. We can save many lives and increase our chances to fight and win the GWOT by applying lessons learned from prior conflicts such as the counterinsurgency operations in Vietnam.
