Low-Cost, High Throughput 3-D Pulmonary Imager Using Hyperpolarized Contrast Agents and Low-Field MRI
Abstract
This report covers the second period of the no-cost extension period. Overall, this is the fifth year of the project performance. During the indicated period of performance, we have focused our activities on two specific aims. With regards to Aim #1 (129Xe polarizer development), we have been on testing the final 129Xe automated hyperpolarizer, publishing the results and also developing the quality assurance experiments for future in vivo validation studies. With respect to Aim 3, the custom imaging equipment has been delivered by the vendor. However, due to COVID-19, we could not complete the installation process (the site was under the governors lock-down order). The remaining efforts (in the next year) will primarily focus on the installation of the 0.35 T MRI scanner and completion of the second polarizer. With respect to the delivery and installation of the 0.35 TMRI scanner, we have been engaged with the vendor to ensure that the delivered MRI scanner will be customized to our needs to meet the specifications for scan speed and resolution. As with previous years, we also note that we are submitting a duplicating report for two partnering PI awards of the same project: W81XWH-15-1-0271 and W81XWH-15-1-0272.
