Twenty Years of Research at the SACLANT ASW Research Centre 1959-1979

Abstract

The SACIANT Antisubmarine Warfare Research Centre was established by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization to provide scientific and technical advice and assistance to the Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic in the field of antisubmarine warfare and to respond to the requirements of NATO naval forces in the field. Its first twenty years are described in four broad periods, for each of which is given a summary of administrative matters and detailed histories of the work performed under items of the current scientific programmes. Extensive citations are made to SACIANTCEN research publications and a supplementary volume (published as SACIANTCEN Bibliography SB-3) lists the authors, titles, and abstracts of these.
