Abstract

The purpose of this report is to describe a series of studies illustrating the use of text analysis tools to enhance personnel assessment. Text analysis refers to a range of techniques for identifying and summarizing topics, themes, or other dimensions of interest in a text corpus using various types of automated assistance. One objective of this series of studies was to identify where and how text analysis could augment existing US Air Force assessments. This objective resulted in a study that illustrated the use of text analysis techniques to score structured employment interview responses. Another objective was to examine the utility of text analysis using archival US Air Force data.
