Weakening Of the NCO Corps

Abstract

The Non Commissioned Officer's Corps is experiencing weaknesses in it's backbone due to the promotion of young soldiers to sergeant on an automatic basis. The United States Army is creating a force of leaders that lack experience and loyalty to the NCO Channel because of their insistence in providing the promotions without the need to enter the ranks of sergeant. Without a means to measure the importance of becoming an NCO, automatic promotions will only create soldiers interested in pay increase rather than pride in our Corps.
