Ballistic Impact Rig Operations Manual

Abstract

To date, no Operations Manual has ever been written for AFITs home built Ballistic Impact Rig (BIR). The lack of such a manual makes learning how to use AFITs BIR a time consuming, drawn out activity. In addition, due to the ballistic nature and high pressures within the system, the device can potentially be very dangerous to use. To overcome these training and retention difficulties and to assure the effective and safe operation of this intensively modified apparatus, this Operations Manual has been written. This Operations Manual clearly explains the functions and fundamentals behind each of the BIRs subcomponents. It also systematically documents the XXX operational sequence steps and their associated XX usage warnings required to use it safely and effectively for a typical experimental run.
