Abstract

Although there has always been an emphasis on understanding a military enemy in terms of strengths, weaknesses, numbers, and equipment, often times the most critical aspect of the enemy is not researched-their culture. Lack of cultural understanding prolongs wars and hindersreconstruction. This paper will show some examples of how a lack of cultural understanding impeded the progress of mission accomplishment.
