The Lwara mission

Abstract

Ambush! Ambush! The commander yelled as he grabbed for the hand mike to tell higher that we were being hit and hit hard. Im hit, Im hit screamed our driver! God it hurts! Well worry about that later, just drive fast. I was shooting from my side at the enemy while my top gunner was rapidly expending all his machine gun ammunition at muzzle flashes on the ridge. I could hear thuds as bullets passed through our vehicle miraculously missing my commanders head by inches. Where the hell is third platoon? I said, just as one RPG impacted just in front of my vehicle and another destroying the vehicle behind us.
