U.S. Counterinsurgency Operations in Panama and Mexico

Abstract

The United States government conducts counterinsurgency operations (COIN) to shape the political atmosphere, economy, infrastructure, and security of other nations. A brief comparative/contrasting study of U.S. COIN operations in Mexico and Panama is representative of most of our nations COIN efforts. The lessons learned during these significant COIN operations provide valuable tools to combat current insurgency in the Global War on Terror.
