The Ethics of Killing in Combat

Abstract

Soldiers are untrained for the emotional trauma of killing the enemy in combat. The Army does Soldiers a disservice by not preparing them emotionally for the trauma of combat. Many military officials believe the Armys training is to make killing an automatic reaction for Soldiers and talking about the issue will make Soldiers too emotional and not combat effective.
