Benefits and Problems Associated with Improving the Ratio of U.S. Combat Troops to Military Support Personnel in Europe
Abstract
Because of continuing improvement in Soviet and Warsaw Pact capabilities in recent years--particularly to. conduct "Blitzkrieg" warfare--the United States has undertaken programs to improve it's combat effectiveness in Europe. Some of these programs have increased the ratio of combat-troops to support forces without increasing overall U.S. military forces in Europe.
