History of Air Weather Service 1 July- 31 December 1958 Volume 1-Narrative

Abstract

Direct weather support to the Department of the Amy and its field organizations, both in the ZI and overseas, was a primary responsibility of the Air Weather Service, directed both by AFR 20-2, the basic AWS mission directive, and by joint AFR 105-3/AR 115-10, Meteorology, Weather Service. Weather support to the Army was not merely a by-product of the weather service furnished to Air Force organizations; rather, such support was a mission-directed responsibility handled, when necessary, on a specialized basis and specifically tailored to the Army's needs.
