Development of Clinical Decision Support Tools for Patients with Advanced Prostate Cancer

Abstract

This project has improved our understanding of advanced prostate cancer and skeletal-related events (SRE's - defined as pain or fracture due to metastatic cancer). From the patient's perspective, SRE's adversely affect functional independence and quality of life. From the payer's perspective, these complications are not only quite common, but also disproportionately expensive to treat. The developed clinical decision support tools help estimate the likelihood of survival, disease progression, and skeletal related events, at several time-points useful for medical and surgical decision-making in an effort to deliver more focused Precision Medicine to men living with advanced prostate cancer.
