Status Of The Mariner Jupiter/Saturn 1977 Project

Abstract

The Mariner Jupiter/Saturn (MJS) project is an outgrowth of a program known as the Outer Planets Grand Tour.Using a technique perfected by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), a flyby of the planet Jupiter will acceleratea spacecraft and enable it to reach all of the outer planets, which would not be possible with normal launchvehicle capabilities.
