Computational Model for Atmospheric Propagation Losses in the Radiofrequency Through Millimeter Wave Range

Abstract

This report describes a MATLAB program for calculating atmospheric propagation losses at radiofrequency (RF) and millimeter-wave (MMW)frequencies. The program computes calculates the path integral of the individual atmospheric loss mechanisms along a line of sight from an elevated platform to a point on the earths surface. The integral is performed numerically by discretizing the atmospheric column into a finite number of layers. Earth curvature is neglected.
