Strategic Leadership: Primer for Senior Leaders 4th Edition

Abstract

Most U.S. Army War College (War College) students begin their resident or distance education programs already having significant knowledge and experience in leadership. If asked, they would likely present their own personal definitions of itcombining power and influence over others, positive personality traits, capacity for developing a vision and leading change, decision making, and other skills, knowledge, and attitudes present since ones days as a lieutenant or ensign. However, attaching the word strategic adds particular meaning. It represents the application of leadership in a context qualitatively different from those familiar to most studentssuch as direct leadership over units, organizational leadership in the positions of staff officer, or operational leadership in combat environments.
