Regaining Arctic Dominance: The U.S. Army in the Arctic

Abstract

The United States is an Arctic nation. As such, the Arctic security environment contributes directly to homeland defense and is of vital importance to our national interests. In 2019, the Department of Defense (DoD) published its most recent Arctic Strategy with the objective of an Arctic that "is a secure and stable region in which U.S. national interests are safeguarded, the U.S. homeland is defended, and nations work cooperatively to address shared challenges."
