Survey of Endodontists Restorative Preference Following Endodontic Therapy

Abstract

After completion of non-surgical root canal therapy (NSRCT) the unrestored tooth is at risk of reinfection of the root canal system with bacteria [1-3]. When temporary materials are used to cover the access, it becomes the most vulnerable part of the tooth. All temporary dental materials will leak, are prone to dislodgement with occlusal forces, and are structurally compromised[4]. Ray and Trope found that the coronal restoration following endodontic therapy was even more important than the radiographic quality of the endodontic therapy.
