Characterization of Comorbid PTSD in Treatment-Seeking Alcohol Dependent Inpatients: Severity and Personality Trait Differences

Abstract

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and alcohol dependence (AD) are often comorbid. We examined AD treatment-seeking inpatients with and without PTSD. We hypothesized AD/PTSD would have higher levels of: (1) AD severity; (2) anxious and depressive symptoms; (3) neuroticism; and (4) aggression.
