Nano-Bio Manufacturing Consortium (NBMC)

Abstract

The nano-bio manufacturing consortium (NBMC) was conceptualized and implemented by Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in the interest of accelerating technology development of printed and hybrid components forming integrated systems for the detection of biomarkers relevant to the monitoring and augmentation of human performance, specifically the warfighter. In partnership with SEMI, a non-profit trade organization, a new development paradigm was implemented, one in which collaboration, both public/private and within industry, accelerated innovation as well as developed the manufacturing supply chain of the emerging flexible electronics space. Sixteen R and D projects were fully executed over the period of performance.
