Genetic Mechanisms of Neurofibromatosis-Related Arteriopathy and Renovascular Hypertension

Abstract

This study will identify genetic associations underlying pediatric renovascular hypertension, specifically as it relates to variants in the NF1 gene. Analysis of germline and somatic/tissue genetic variation will provide insights into the mechanisms of vascular disease in NF1. Initial studies are identifying early genotype-phenotype associations, human tissue signaling pathway alterations, and the initial stages of the somatic variant detection study are completed, with sequencing of tissue and vascular cell-derived DNA to occur in Year 2 of this grant.
