ISIS 2.0: South and Southeast Asia Opportunities and Vulnerabilities
Abstract
The aim of terrorist groups is to create disorder within states by violent means for political ends. These end goals include local or transnational policy change, social control, or regime change. Terror groups like al-Qaeda and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have demonstrated global aspirations and transnational reach across several continents in order to spread their ideologies and establish a sharia-based (Islamic religious legal system) governance.
