What is ethics and what situation constitutes an ethical dilemma? Webster'sdictionary defines ethics as "a set of moral principles or values". An ethical dilemma iscreated when a situation involves an apparent conflict between two possible rights. Doespurchasing gifts for your superiors create an ethical dilemma?Regardless of what morals and values you were taught as a child, once you entered themilitary, you adopted the values of the Army. The Army respects the different moralbackgrounds and personal convictions of its Soldiers so long as their morals and valuesare not in conflict with the Army values.
