The Non-Commissioned Officers of the Lewis and Clark Expedition The Lewis and Clark Expedition is one of the greatest examples of the importance of the Non-Commissioned Officer within our organization today. The Non-Commissioned Officers of this expedition had a significant effect on the success of the mission and they are definitely proof that the Non-Commissioned Officers of our past were "The Backbone of the Army."
