Headquarters X Corps Periodic Intelligence Reports
Abstract
Enemy activity during the period in the X Corps zone was characterized by scattered points of light to moderate resistance and several patrol clashes, On the east coast enemy resistance north of Chongjin was apparently crumbling as ROK forces of the Capital Division continued their drive along the coastal highway. Near Hyesanjin, one point of strong enemy resistance was encountered on the road from Samsu to Singalpajin. In the Choshin Reservoir area, no organized opposition as encountered by the 7th Marines one mile west of Yudam-ni Enemy forces in rear of X Corps front lines continued active operation against UN farces in the vicinity Anbyon, Majon-ni and Yongsun-ni. Elsewhere in the Corps zone friendly patrols reported contact with various enemy groups. In the Eighth Army zone, latest reports indicate that elements of Corps were advancing against little or no resistance. However, as of 2615001, the enemy forces opposing ROK II Corps were attacking across the entire front, and Units of ROK II Corps were reported to be withdrawing to a defensive line south of Tokchon.
