The Airfoil Method for Rotary Wing Analysis Using Modified Lift and Drag Equations

Abstract

This paper will demonstrate how to adapt fixed wing lift/drag equations to analyze rotary wings as airfoils. This Airfoil method is validated by analysis of eight radio controlled helicopters and quad-copters, which are flown at a hover for a known time duration.
