Planning for Anycast as Anti-DDoS (PAADDoS)

Abstract

This final report summarizes the objectives for the PAADDoS project and the technical progress made against those objectives. The PAADDoS projects goal is to defend against large-scale Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks by making anycast-based capacity more effective than it is today. Anycast use Internet routing to associate users with geographically close sites of a replicated service. PAADDoS helps anycast manage DDoS attacks by developing tools and methods to (1) map catchments, (2) change catchments in response to DDoS, (3) estimate attack size.
