The Army of the Nineties: How Much Will It Cost?

Abstract

The current Administration has made a concerted effort to modernize and improve the Army, investing $415 billion (in fiscal year 1987 dollars) from 1980 through 1986 in new equipment, better pay and benefits for its soldiers, repairs and maintenance of its facilities, and stockpiles of war reserves.
