Abstract

Since the turn of the century, Selective Service has played a vital role in supplying manpower to the armed forces, especially in times of crisis. Given its mission, Selective Service has often been the subject of intense debate within the Congress. The most recent debate has focused on the appropriate peacetime organization for Selective Service.
