Operation Overlord
Abstract
The subject of this briefing is impact of deception and secrecy on Normandy Operation. The purpose is to give you a general understanding how initial deception and secrecy of Operation Overlord influenced the entire Normandy war theater. It is also to underscore the importance of deception in any other mission. I will explain how the deception influenced the Operation in days after assault on beaches of Normandy. The purpose of this brief is to give you a general understanding of the units that participated in the airborne assault (Operation Overlord) beginning the liberation of France. I will discuss the American and allied forces training and preparations, give a brief overview of the equipment and personnel, discuss in detail the airborne units chief objectives during the airborne assault Operation Overlord. The purpose of this brief is to give you a general understanding of the units that participated on the assault that was the beginning of the liberation of France. I will discuss the American and allied forces and the sequence of events from the rally point in the English Channel up to the individual unit's initial objectives during the beach assault. The purpose of this brief is to provide a counterpoint to my groups theory of the battle of Normandy. I will show that the overwhelming success of "Operation Overlord" was due to shortcomings of the German defense.
