Abstract

On July 30, 2014, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), through the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, awarded Sterling Operations Inc. (Sterling) a 33-month, $249million task order to implement Phase II of the Afghanistan-Wide Mine, Battle Area, and Range Clearance operation. This was divided into Efforts1 and 2. Effort 2s objectives were to conduct subsurface, mine, battle area, and range clearance. USACE modified the task order 11times, decreasing the value of Effort 2 from$178.1 million to $170.9 million, and extending its period of performance from May 1, 2017, to May 1, 2018. In May 2016, Sterling changed its name to Janus Global Operations LLC (Janus).
