Methods of Training (Provisional)

Abstract

1. This text replaces Methods of Training, 1923, of which it is a complete revision, undertaken with a view to meeting the present needs of these schools. 2. The text is based on prescribed War Department policies and doctrines and represents the views on training of The General Service Schools. 3. The text primarily is designed to afford a basis for conferences and problems in the course in Methods of Training in the Command and General Staff School, The purpose of the course is to place before the officers taking the course the following: a. The policies and principles applicable to training, both in peace and in war. b. Practical methods of applying the principles of training to the Army of the United States and to the other forces subject to training. C. Correct methods of imparting instruction. 4. The subject matter of the-text conforms to the mission of the General Service Schools, which is command and staff training for the division and the corps. The subjects of brigade, regimental, battalion, and company training orders, programs, and schedules, covered in the 1923 edition have, therefore, been omitted from this edition.
