Personal Experience Paper
Abstract
In the modern global security environment, the United States Army faces a different adversary that presents wholly different challenges to the Army's intelligence effort. No longer facing a traditional, conventional enemy as its predominant operational threat, the United States Army's intelligence capabilities have struggled to maintain parity with its actual requirements. As the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division Intelligence Sergeant in Baghdad, I was given the unique opportunity to participate in this difficult struggle to employ the Army's superior intelligence capabilities in a way that satisfies the commanders essential informational needs. My personal experience while deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom demonstrated the extreme difficulty of effective intelligence analysis and information sharing in Counterinsurgency and Stability Operations.
