Radio Section of the 1932-1933 American Polar Year Expedition

Abstract

Ionosphere Investigations. Apparent heights of the ionosphere were measured by the radio echo reflection method. The apparent height ranges from 130 to 700 km., the average increasing from 260 km in December 1932 to 300 km in March 1933. After April 1 the reception of echoes and the effective heights were progressively more erratic until August 24, 1933.
