Finite Element for Discrete Dislocation Dynamics (FED3) User Guide

Abstract

The Finite Element for Discrete Dislocation Dynamics (FED3) simulator was developed to extend the modeling capabilities of discrete dislocation dynamics (DDD) beyond infinite single-crystal domains. It was designed to run concurrently with existing DDD simulators as a separate executable to enable efficient use on high-performance computing resources. This report serves as a user guide, describing how to build and run the simulator. Example simulations are described to highlight the capabilities of FED3.
