Evaluating the Impact of COVID-19 Based Restrictions on the Sleep and Sleep Behaviors of Airmen During Technical Training

Abstract

America, the entire DoD, and Air Force Technical Trainees are all under-slept for a variety of reasons. Changes in sleep can happen with knowledge and behaviors. the way forward is to offer: Alternatives to dorm/bedroom environment socialization, Access/exposure to natural sleep rhythm producers (sunlight, friends), Replacements for physical exercise, Utilization of Choice Architecture within Shoppettes (Caffeine), and Education about sleep promoting behaviors.
