Prototype for a Field Guide for Improving Processes in Small Settings

Abstract

People, process, environment, and technologythese are the major determinants of cost, quality, and schedule in todays software-intensive systems and services. Of the four, process is often regarded as the glue that holds the organization together, or the tracks that guide the train. However you phrase it, good processes are critical to getting the most from the investment organizations make in their people and technologies. But to be most effective, these processes must fit the environment the processes will be performed in.
