Test of Propeller Shaft Revolution Indicator System

Abstract

The tow shaft propeller system, shown by Plate 1, was interconnected electrically and tested for conformance with the specifications in so far as they were applicable. Particular attention was given the system over the entire test period to note whether it had any defects such as those discovered and reported under reference (d). In view of no constant frequency control unit accompanying the system, the synchronous motors located in the Mater Indicator and Transmitter units were energized from the same source of a.c. 60 cycle supply as that supplying the constant speed motors used for driving the shaft transmitter. The usual inspection of the equipment, relative to materials, design and workmanship, concluded the test.
