Torsades de Pointes in the PACU after Outpatient Endoscopy

Abstract

Rare yet life-threatening pathology after a common outpatient procedure and common PACU complaint. Profound electrolyte derangements can be seen in those with secretory diarrhea compounded by the bowel prep for colonoscopy. Severe hypokalemia requires a high index of suspicion for prompt diagnosis.
