Estimation of Source Parameters of DPRK Nuclear Tests by Exploiting Regional Seismic Waves

Abstract

In this report, we focus on (1) developing an iterative method to jointly invert for Lg source spectra, Q tomography and site response models using two-stations based tomographic Q models and relative site responses as a priori information; (2) measure Lg amplitudes using the 3rd peak and RMS methods on WWSSN-SP simulated seismograms, (3) estimate hypothetical Lg amplitudes at 10km to the source by correcting geometric spreading, path attenuation and site responses, (4) calibrate constant C value for mb(Lg) estimation, and (5) estimate mb(Lg) for used earthquakes and explosions.
