Battlefield Automation: Army Air Defense Command and Control System Acquisition and Budget Issues
Abstract
The FAAD c21 system is intended to provide an automated command and control capability for commanders to control the use of short-range air defense weapons. The system is designed to automatically acquire and identify incoming aircraft and provide aircraft targeting and trackinginformation to forward air defense battalions. The FM ~21 program consists of four distinct segments: the automated command and controlarchitecture (basic CZ), ground sensor, aerial sensor, and aircraft identification.
