Improving Acceptability and Outcomes for Upper Extremity Transplantation in Service Members and Veterans

Abstract

The purpose of this project is to study Veterans and retired Service members with upper extremity amputations to identify psychosocial factors influencing their candidacy for reconstructive transplantation and assess their valuation of this treatment option. Progress to date includes securing single IRB approval for both Hopkins sites, local IRB approval for the VAMC site, and HRPO approval at both Hopkins sites. The application for HRPO approval for the VAMC was recently submitted. Educational material, the Delphi survey, and study CRF have been completed to collect data under Aim 1; interview development for data collection under Aim 2 continues.
